AFP Certification Renewal Policies & Procedures

• AEA Certified Aquatic Fitness Professionals are required to renew their certification every two years.  Early renewals can be submitted within 6 months prior to certification if all renewal requirements are met.
• AEA Certified Aquatic Fitness Professionals must obtain a minimum of 15 AEA Approved CECs to obtain recertification.  If you earn more CECs than the minimum required, they do not carry over to the next renewal period.  CECs begin at Zero (0) on your next term.
• A list of AEA Approved Continuing Education Courses can be found on this website, under Education/CEC Providers/CEC Listing.  AEA may issue CECs to non-approved educational programs; Petition Form can be downloaded and printed at the bottom of this page.
• AEA Certified Aquatic Fitness Professionals must maintain current and valid CPR/AED Certification throughout the renewal term.  CPR/AED Certification is worth 3.0 AEA CECs.
• There is a $55.00 Certification Renewal Fee. This fee represents on-time renewals that are received prior to the expiration date and with complete requirements fulfilled.  AEA Certified Aquatic Fitness Professionals have 60 days grace following their certification expiration date, in order to renew without paying a late fee.
• Late fees will apply if we do not receive your Certification Renewal within 60 days of expiration.  From 2 months - 1 year late fee is $30.00.  From 13 months to two years late fee is $55.00.  After two years you may be required to take the AFPC Examination again.

AEA is de ‘Aquatic Exercise Association’ en heeft zijn ‘headoffice’ in Brunswick (USA).

Hun missie is een non-for-profit organisatie te zijn, die zich committeert in de wereldwijde verspreiding van aquafitness. Ze zorgen voor bewustwording, educatie en netwerkmogelijkheden, om professionals en hun deelnemers te versterken. Met AEA is het promoten van een gezonde levensstijl door bewegen in water, wereldwijd ondersteund in een teamverband. We are all family!

AEA begon in 1984 en heeft inmiddels ruim 45 000 gecertificeerden in 50 landen. De opleidingen worden momenteel in 8 talen gegeven, waaronder Nederland, sinds 1997. Per 2012 is Kataqua hét opleidingsinstituut voor de Nederlandse en Belgische markt, waar 2 AEA-trainer specialisten (Katrien Lemahieu en Kim Geeroms) de officiële examens voor AEA mogen afnemen.

De AFPC (Aquatic Fitness Professional Certification) is een hoog niveau certificering en toetst zowel de theoretische onderbouwing  als praktische competenties af. In een 100 multiple choice vragenlijst, worden alle onderdelen uit de 6e manual getest op kennis en vaardigheid. Door te slagen voor deze test, mogen alle deelnemers aan lessen van deze gecertificeerde lesgever er zeker van zijn dat alle lessen een goede gezondheid en fitness doelen bereikt kunnen worden door veilige, effectieve en vooral gezellige lessen aquafitness.

Bij het slagen voor de AFPC, mag de lesgever zich officieel ‘Aquatic Fitness Professional’ noemen. De licentie is geldig voor 2 jaar. In deze 2 jaar, moet er voor een minimum aan 15 CEC’s (Continuous Education Credits) aan bijscholing worden gedaan om deze licentie geldig te houden. Deze CEC’s zijn te verkrijgen bij educations, workshops en conventies van onder andere Kataqua. Deze moeten online worden ingevoerd op de website van AEA om deze te kunnen volgen. Per 2 jaar wordt een ‘renewal’ aangevraagd, de kosten hiervoor zijn $50,- . Kataqua zorgt ervoor dat deze verlenging voor jullie wordt bijgehouden. Daar hoef je dus zelfs niet aan te doen!  Kijk op deze pagina hoeveel CEC's elke opleiding, workshop en bijscholing heeft.
